Corban University

The Reach program seeks to raise awareness and provide service opportunities that cultivate a life of service. Through Reach, students put their faith to work in community service projects by focusing on hunger and housing, education and literacy, justice and dignity, creation care, and discipleship. These are some of the organizations Corban partners with: Union Gospel Mission of Salem, Habitat for Humanity, Marion Polk Food Share, Oregon Right to Life, City Vibe, Salem For Refugees.

Reach highlights Corban’s long-standing commitment to service. It contributes to the mission of Corban University “to educate Christians who will make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ” , facilitating a wide variety of service opportunities in local and global contexts. Through Reach, students serve in churches or other non-profit organizations, often focusing on one of five key areas:

  • Education/Literacy
  • Hunger/Housing
  • Dignity/Justice
  • Creation Care
  • Discipleship

Reach assists students in integrating their faith and service with their learning.

Finding a “Home” Church

Connecting to a local community of faith in the Salem area can be an oh-so-challenging proposition! It’s a bit scary to walk in to a new church, filled with unfamiliar faces. And sleeping in on Sunday morning feels so much… safer, so much more comfortable. But finding a church to call home is a crucial part of making your faith your own. And there is no better time than right now, to take that step. Serving in a local church is a great way to serve AND get to know a church community!

Connecting in our Community

Community service projects are a great way to grow in your faith and get to know people in the community. The Reach Office has information on several local non-profit organizations and hosts a few university-wide service days to help you connect with organizations who are eager to have you serve with them.
