The traditional undergraduate student activity fee covers the cost of student government, services, intramurals, technology, and security. This fee is charged per semester.

What are the new student fees?

New students will have a one-time $150 enrollment fee their first semester. If you apply to live on campus, you may also have a housing application fee.

What does it cost to live on campus?

The cost depends on the type of housing and the choice of meal plan. Look on the Tuition & Fees webpage for these fees.

If I live off campus, can I eat in the cafeteria?

Yes, you can purchase any of the commuter meal plans or pay per meal.

What is the FAFSA application?

FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and is available at www.studentaid.gov. Request that your results be sent to Corban by adding our school code (001339) or choosing from the list. It usually takes 24-48 hours to be received by the University, and then the Financial Aid team will reach out to you after that.

What is the “out-of-pocket cost”?

The “out-of-pocket” cost is the amount of charges (tuition, fees, room and board) you request, less the financial aid you are receiving. It is the amount that you will be expected to make payment arrangements for.

How do I view my student account?

Go to corban.populiweb.com and sign in with your user ID and password. Open your “Financial” page with the tab near the top of the page under your name. There you will be able to view the charges, credits, and balance of your student account.

When can I view my semester charges on my account?

Usually, the charges for the most recent semester that you have registered for will post to your student account a couple of weeks before the semester starts.

When will my financial aid disburse to my account?

If all your required documents have been submitted, signed, and you have accepted your Financial Aid Award, your awards will show as “scheduled” until the semester begins. After the close of the add/drop period (usually the end of the second week of the semester), your financial aid will be disbursed to your student account. For any questions about your financial aid, please contact the Financial Aid office via email (financialaid@corban.edu) or phone (503-375-7006) to talk with a Financial Aid Counselor.

I have a financial aid package. Why do I still have a balance?

Your financial aid package is usually based on your FAFSA results and rarely covers the entire cost of attending university. There are options for additional loans or outside scholarships. Please contact financialaid@corban.edu for more information. Remember to inquire earlier than later. Loan applications take time to process, especially during busy seasons.

Does a negative balance mean I owe money?

No, a negative balance on your account is a credit that will be used against charges. If your balance is paid in full, the credit will be refunded to you.

If my Financial Aid Award that I accepted is for more than my bill, will I receive a refund for what is left over?

Yes, within two weeks of your financial aid being disbursed to your student account, there should be a check sent out for the refund. If part of the award was from a Parent PLUS Loan then the refund check might be sent to the parent instead of the student.

What is the due date for the balance on my student account?

The balance on your account is due in full by the Friday prior to the start of a course in any semester. Payment in full means:

  1. Payment in full of all tuition and fees;
  2. An established monthly payment plan with Financial Services covering the full amount due; or
  3. Accepted financial aid that is shown as pending for the full amount due.

Can I pay for the entire year?

The semester charges and aid package are posted to your account by semester, so payment is requested to be made for each semester. Paying for the entire year will leave a credit balance on your account that will be refunded at the end of the first semester.

Why do I have a late fee?

The balance on your account is due on the first day of the semester. After that due date, your remaining balance may be assessed with a finance charge of 1.5% per each month until the balance is zero. If you cannot pay the full balance by the deadline date and wish to avoid late fees, then you can go into your Student Account in Populi and set up a payment plan.

Can I sign up for a payment plan?

Yes, the payment plan option allows you to divide the balance on your account into 4-5 installments to be paid before the end of the semester. There is a $55 fee per semester to participate in the payment plan.

What is FERPA?

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects the privacy of the educational and financial records of students. When a student turns 18 years old, or enters a postsecondary institution at any age, the rights under FERPA transfer from the parents to the student. If there is someone that you would like to have access to your student account information, then you will need to add their information to your student portal in Populi. Click here to complete the release form.

How can my parents view my student account?

Your login and password information should not be shared with anyone. Adding your parents to your information release page in Populi allows them to inquire on your behalf.

Why do I have a lock on my account keeping me from registering?

If you have a Student Financial Services lock, there is a balance on your account that will need to be paid before you can register for the next semester.

What happens if I cannot pay off my account balance?

You will not be allowed to register for the following term, get transcripts, or receive your diploma. Please contact Student Accounts as soon as you know that you will not be able to pay. We will work with you to find a resolution.

Why don’t I see any history on my account before March 2020?

The University made a software change in March 2020 and only balances owing were transferred into the new Populi system. If you were a student prior to that date and need back information from your account, please contact Student Accounts at sfs@corban.edu.
