About Dr. Newton
Dr. Newton is a discipleship-focused church entrepreneur who enjoys training ministry students. He planted and pastored a house church in Salem, Oregon, out of his Red Robin workplace, where he worked while completing his Corban undergraduate degree. His doctoral research focused on the discipleship of college students and how discipling relationships affect spiritual growth.
Dr. Newton is also globally focused and experienced. Jordan lived in Mexico fresh out of high school, taught with Corban’s Africa Training Partnership in Cameroon, lived in Papua, Indonesia from 2020-2022, and is drawn to investing in the global church. While in Papua, Jordan oversaw spiritual formation, student life, and all academic programs for Papua Hope Language Institute as its Chief Program Officer.
Dr. Newton taught at Corban part-time for 12 years before joining the School of Ministry as their new Kairos Program director and now serves as the Chair of the School of Ministry, helping design programs to equip the next generation of Christian leaders. Jordan spends most of his time mentoring students and trying to get them into the field, and to take their spiritual formation seriously to prepare them for a life of making disciples.
Jordan married his high school sweetheart, Angie, in 2006, and they have three children, Tristan, Kaden, and Faryn. He enjoys exercise, hikes, spicy foods, sports, and coffee.

I came to Corban when I was in elementary school to visit a family member who was attending Corban, then Western Baptist, and I really never left. I did my undergraduate degree here, started teaching as an adjunct Bible teacher, finished my doctorate here, and am so excited to keep spending time with the amazing students and staff at Corban University. The Gospel is everything and this school has always taken that seriously.
