A Pulitzer winning comedy and long running Broadway show, Harvey, by Mary Chase, tells the story of an eccentric man who claims his best friend is an invisible 6’ 3” rabbit. This claim causes consternation for his family with his sister claiming her brother’s eccentricity hinders her social status and endangers his niece’s marriage prospects. Misunderstandings and chaotic hilarity ensue, but through it all, it becomes evident that there is more to life than what is immediately apparent. Kindness, friendship, and the inexplicable bring delight and meaning, and we would benefit from exploring them.
