Thoughts from the Director:
Agatha Christie (1890-1976) is known internationally as the “Queen of Crime,” not because she committed them, but because her crime novels demonstrated an inventive imagination that created eccentric but identifiable “detective” main characters, and story lines that both engaged and challenged. Christie captivated readers with her amazing grasp on the complexity of human emotions, motivations, and morality.
One of Christie’s most fascinating mysteries, Murder on the Orient Express, written in 1934, has had such a wide and popular appeal that it has repeatedly been adapted for radio, television, games, live theatre, and the big screen (most recently in 2017). It has received awards for best film, best motion picture, best screenplay and has been described as the “most widely read mystery of all time.”
