Student Account FAQs
What is the cost to attend Corban University?
Find current information about tuition, fees, housing, and meal plan costs on our tuition and fees page.
What is the FAFSA application?
FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and is available at www.studentaid.gov. Request that your results be sent to Corban by adding our school code (001339) or choosing from the list. It usually takes 24-48 hours to be received by the University, and then the Financial Aid team will reach out to you after that.
The “out-of-pocket” cost is the amount of your charges (tuition, fees, room and board), less the financial aid you are receiving. It is the amount that you will be expected to pay.
If all your required documents have been submitted, signed, and you have accepted your financial aid offer, your aid will show as “scheduled” until the semester begins. After the close of the add/drop period (usually the end of the second week of the semester), your financial aid will be disbursed to your student account. For any questions about your financial aid, please contact financialaid@corban.edu or (503) 375-7006 to talk with a Financial Aid Counselor.
Your financial aid package is usually based on your FAFSA results and rarely covers the entire cost of attending university. There are options for additional loans or outside scholarships. Please contact financialaid@corban.edu for more information. Remember to inquire earlier than later. Loan applications take time to process, especially during busy seasons.
Yes, within two weeks of your financial aid being disbursed to your student account, there should be a check sent out for the refund. If part of the aid was from a Parent PLUS Loan then the refund check might be sent to the parent instead of the student.
How do I view my student account?
Go to corban.populiweb.com and sign in with your user ID and password. Open your “Financial” page with the tab near the top of the page under your name. There you will be able to view the charges, credits, and balance of your student account.
Charges for fall post in July and charges for spring post in December. Summer charges typically post a couple of weeks before the start of the term.
The balance on your account is due in full by the Friday prior to the start of a course in any semester. Payment in full means:
- Payment in full of all tuition and fees;
- An established monthly payment plan with Financial Services covering the full amount due; or
- Accepted financial aid that is shown as pending for the full amount due.
- Log into the Populi site at corban.populiweb.com.
- Open the “Financial” tab from your main page.
- On the right under “Pay Now,” open the “Make a Payment” link.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page. If you are making a “One Time Payment” then just leave it on this option, but it you wish to set up a payment plan, then change the dropdown to “Choose a Payment Plan.” Then choose the appropriate payment plan option. It will give you your estimated monthly charge.
- Fill in your information and banking or credit card numbers.
- Then click “Begin Payment Plan” at the bottom of the page.
The semester charges and aid package are posted to your account by semester, so payment is requested to be made for each semester. Paying for the entire year will leave a credit balance on your account that will be refunded at the end of the first semester.
Yes, the payment plan option allows you to divide the balance on your account into 3-5 installments to be paid before the end of the semester. There is a $55 fee per semester to participate in the payment plan.
You will not be allowed to register for the following term, get transcripts, or receive your diploma. Please contact Student Accounts as soon as you know that you will not be able to pay. We will work with you to find a resolution.
If you have a Student Accounts lock, there is a balance on your account that will need to be paid before you can register for the next semester.
The balance on your account is due on the first day of the semester. After that due date, your remaining balance may be assessed with a finance charge of 1.5% per each month until the balance is zero. If you cannot pay the full balance by the deadline date and wish to avoid late fees, then you can go into your Student Account in Populi and set up a payment plan.
No, a negative balance on your account is a credit that will be used against charges. If your balance is paid in full, the credit will be refunded to you.
The University made a software change in March 2020 and only balances owing were transferred into the new Populi system. If you were a student prior to that date and need back information from your account, please contact Student Accounts at sfs@corban.edu.
What is FERPA?
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects the privacy of the educational and financial records of students. When a student turns 18 years old, or enters a postsecondary institution at any age, the rights under FERPA transfer from the parents to the student. If there is someone that you would like to have access to your student account information, then you will need to add their information to your student portal in Populi.
Your login and password information should not be shared with anyone. Adding your parents to your information release page in Populi allows them to inquire on your behalf.
Yes, there is a link specific to your account from the payment screen on the “Financial” tab on your Populi main page. Under “Make a Payment,” click on the link “Someone Else Paying?” You would copy the link and send it to them.
