About Dr. Villers
Dr. Villers is a seasoned educator with over 30 years of experience in leading public and private school districts, both in person and online. He specializes in teacher development and the use of technology in instruction and holds a master’s degree from Liberty University and a Doctor of Education from Grand Canyon University. His professional journey began in California before leading school districts in Colorado and Oregon and serving as the Director of Education for an international online Christian school.
Dr. Villers is passionate that education should be student centered and mission driven. His strengths include community building and finding the right fit for teachers and employees. He cares deeply about the staff who work for him and seeks to lead them through serving them.
Lance has been married to Gretchen for more than 30 years and enjoys nothing more than spending time with their grown children and spouses. He has been blessed to have two grandchildren with another on the way. Lance enjoys golfing and reading science fiction in his spare time.

Learn to develop and implement a vision to improve teaching and learning in your school. This course helps you understand state requirements for curriculum, instruction, and assessment as well as the ways in which cultural, social, and organizational contexts influence teaching and learning.
Explore the principles and practices of effective student assessment. Examine key topics such as norm- and criterion-referenced testing, minimum competency measures, and classroom-based assessments like portfolios and open-ended problem-solving. Learn to design reliable, valid assessments, develop scoring rubrics, interpret test results, and evaluate the effectiveness of assessment items—all with a focus on meaningful, data-informed instruction.
Teaching at Corban allows me to help educators get better at their work while also being able to provide them with a Christian lens to do it through. I love the freedom of being able to express our Christian worldview in a higher education setting.
