The office of International Student Support provides help for both incoming and current international students as they navigate American culture and university life. We can assist you with visa advising, travel plans, getting a job, and more. Additionally, we also host events to grow community amongst international students and celebrate the various cultures represented on campus.

International Student Support Services

Employment

International students on an F-1 visa are allowed to work on campus only, a max of 20 hours per week during school time and 40 hours per week during breaks. In order to secure employment, students must first receive an offer of employment and obtain a social security number. Our office is ready to help you through this process!

Healthcare

International students are required to have healthcare while studying in the U.S. Our students will receive coverage through Kaiser Permanente for medical, dental, and vision.

For current students in need of an appointment with a healthcare provider, please fill out the following form and our office team will help you schedule an appointment. Be sure to include details of your problem.

Academic Support & Tutoring

All of the academic support services available to Corban students are available to international students as well, at no charge. This includes individual tutoring, group tutoring, writing and editing help, academic coaching, and more! We’re here to help you succeed in your academic studies at Corban.

Optional Practical Training (OPT)

F-1 students are eligible to apply for OPT (Optional Practical Training) to gain further work experience in their field of study. Graduating students may apply for post-completion OPT, which will allow them to stay in the country for one more year to work.

Transportation

Most International students don’t have a personal vehicle during their time at Corban, but students can take advantage of public transportation through Cherriots to travel off campus.

Corban also offers a weekly shuttle for international students to run errands at nearby stores like Walmart, Winco, and Target. This is free of charge, and all international students are welcome to use this service. We can also take students to appointments and the airport, if sufficient notice in advance is given and staffing allows.

DRIVING IN OREGON

International students are eligible to receive a driver’s license through the Department of Motor Vehicles. Students should keep in mind that this is an extra expense, as well as a major responsibility.

International Student Chapel

International chapel is our annual celebration of our campus’ cultural engagement. International and multicultural students lead worship in their home languages, share their testimonies, and perform traditional dances.
