Acceptable Use of Technology Policy

Computer and Information Technologies

Corban University provides employees with access to a number of electronic communication and information systems. These systems include telephone and voicemail systems, emails, text messaging, internet access and online social media applications. These systems and any information store within them are the property of Corban University. All use of these systems must conform to the following expectations:

• Corban University provides these electronic communication and information systems to promote the business interests of our operations
• Corban University will allow “limited and incidental” personal use of the internet and its computers. Any personal use of electronic communication and information systems must
  conform to the University’s Respectful Workplace Policy and may not interfere with an employee’s productivity. The University reserves the right to monitor employee use of these systems at any and all times for visits to inappropriate sites and excessive personal use.

Corban University specifically prohibits the following misuse of its electronic communication and information systems:

• Downloading, installing or deleting any software application to Corban University’s information systems without prior authorization from the Information Services Department.
• Providing your Corban University email address, account login and/or password to others for any purpose.
• Use for any purpose that violates state and/or federal laws.
• Use to transmit or access any content that is illicit, unsavory, abusive, pornographic, discriminatory, harassing, or disrespectful.
• Use to create any social networking persona or blog that may appear to speak for the University, but is not approved by the University.
• Use to transmit non-critical, non-business broadcast mail/data, distribution of chain letters or mass distributions that cause stress on any computer or network system. Abuse of any electronic media or services or violation of this policy, through excessive personal use, or use in violation law or other Corban University policy will be subject to immediate review. The violation may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination. In some circumstances, it may also lead to legal action.
