On Friday, November 22, over 70 professionals from the Salem community volunteered their time to assist with Corban’s 5th annual mock interviews. This year, over 85 students in the Hoff School of Business got to practice their interview skills in an environment that simulated the pressures and expectations of an actual job interview.
“I learned Cyrillic on the train from Kiev to Chernivtsi,” says Christian Phillips, linguistics and humanities student at Corban University. He speaks matter-of-factly, as if this experience could have happened to anyone. But Christian’s ability to learn languages is a unique gift, and he’s found unique ways to explore it both in Corban’s linguistics program and beyond.
The Corban Theatre Department is proud to present John Wooten’s “Humbug,” a modern telling of Charles Dickens’ classic story “A Christmas Carol.” Directed by Tamara McGinnis, “Humbug” promises to bring a Christmas message that is sometimes sobering, sometimes comic—yet always full of hope.
“I love to win as much as the next person,” says Kylie McMinn, Corban University’s new women’s lacrosse coach. “For me, that’s more fun. But my main focus is helping the girls become excellent women – athletically, academically, relationally, and spiritually.”
Kayli graduated from Corban in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication. Even before she graduated, Kayli began utilizing her gifts in communications and public speaking as she served on the student newspaper and yearbook staff, interned with Corban’s advancement department, and engaged in several public speaking events for the University, including the Scholarship Luncheon.
The plink of banjo strings could be heard half way across campus as the Severin Sisters graced the air with Americana music. The banjo, joined by acoustic guitars and a fiddle, set the stage for A Corban Homecoming with bluegrass and country renditions of classic songs.
Esther Lehmann, class of 2013, was nominated for this year’s Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) Young Alumni Award! The Young Alumni Award recognizes an individual (or a team of individuals working in a joint venture) who has achieved uncommon leadership or success in a way that reflects the values of Christian higher education. The oldest daughter of parents who immigrated from Michoacán, Mexico, Lizbeth realized she wanted to be an elementary school teacher when she saw her younger brother struggling in school. Now, she’s excited to reach a point where she can not only give back to her parents, but also come alongside the next generation of students.

Salem, Ore. – Enrollment growth, combined with an impressive year for Corban’s advancement team, points to a promising future and expanded opportunities for Corban students. Over the past ten years, Corban has seen a 23% increase in the number of on-campus undergraduate students (702 total enrollment in 2009, compared to 865 total enrollment in 2019)
Bagpipes have long been an enjoyable tradition at Corban University’s Convocation and Commencement ceremonies—two events that bookmark the academic year, ushering in the year with hope and excitement and concluding it with celebration and accomplishment. At both events, the Willamette Valley Pipes and Drums have provided regal processional music.
Corban University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) and completed a Year-Seven Comprehensive (Evaluation of Institutional Effectiveness (EIE)) in 2022 for continued accreditation. The comprehensive self-study was followed by an onsite evaluation in October 2022. In February 2023, Corban received reaffirmation of its accreditation for 7 years. Corban University’s last Mid-Cycle Evaluation was fall 2018, and its Policies, Regulations and Financial Review (PRFR) was completed in fall 2021. As of our most recent evaluation, Corban University is compliant with the Standards, Policies, and Eligibility Requirements of the NWCCU.
