Warrior Welcome

August 21-23, 2020

We are excited to welcome you to campus!

Warrior Welcome, our new student orientation event, is designed to help you make a successful transition to university life. During Warrior Welcome, you’ll explore campus, connect with new friends, and become part of the awesome community Corban is known for.

Your family is also invited to join you for check-in, move-in, a campus tour, and a welcome session. This will take about three hours. Scroll down for more details on each of these activities.

You’ll also want to use our online Warrior Welcome portal to dive into more information, videos, and resources with everything you need to know to get settled in and connected at Corban. There is helpful content for both students and parents/guardians. Register, check your email for log-in info, and start exploring.

Your health and safety is a top priority for us, and we have adjusted this year’s schedule in compliance with state and county guidelines around COVID-19. Please review our Visitor’s Guide for information on how to self-screen for symptoms before coming to campus and what protocols you can expect when you arrive. Masks are required in all shared spaces indoors and where 6 ft. of social distancing cannot be maintained outdoors. You can also visit our COVID-19 FAQ page for more information about current guidelines on campus.

Check in will be staggered throughout the day, with small groups of students meeting in different locations around campus. We ask that you arrive on campus within your check-in hour. Watch your email for details about your group.

We will also be offering some workshops and Q&A sessions online for students and their families.

What to Expect During Your Check-in Time

Check-In / Move-In
All new students should arrive on Corban’s campus within their check-in hour. It’s okay if you are not able to get all or any of your things moved in within that hour or the next, but we want to know you are here. You will have time to continue moving in later. Before you begin moving in, you will drive through the check-in line and check-in entirely from your vehicle. We’ll talk to you (through our mask, of course) about all the fun and details of the day. We’ll even put some Corban gifts in your hand!

Campus Tour
This will be a self-guided tour that is not required. If you move-in quickly and you’re looking for something to do before your “Welcome” event begins, grab a pamphlet at your dorm and tour campus with your guests. This is a great time to get familiar with campus and show it off to your guests. Signage will be available at your dorm.

Parent/Student Welcome
This 45-minute presentation will outline the mission of the University, expectations for the fall, and end with a devotional. Two sessions will happen simultaneously throughout the day to ensure the largest number of students and guests can hear from those within the Corban community. This event does have a guest restriction. Each student is allowed up to two guests to accompany them in this session. If you have more than two guests, your additional guests are welcome to explore campus, enjoy the beautiful Northwest, or stop by the Corban Fair during this time.

Corban Fair
The Corban Fair is not required, but since this Warrior Welcome is a little different than any other, we want to make sure you get all your questions answered. In the Schimmel Hall parking lot, we will have representatives from Financial Services, Athletics, Student Support, Admissions, Registrar, Student Life, Dining, and more available to answer any and all questions you may have. Or, if all your questions have been answered, you can get back to moving in or go off campus for lunch before your family heads home.

This concludes the programming we can offer for families due to the restrictions of meeting in large groups. Students, this is when you will say “goodbye,” but Warrior Welcome will continue over the next couple days with additional student activities until classes begin on Monday, August 24th.

Corban will also be offering information and sessions over its online portal in conjunction with the on-campus experience. If a guest cannot accompany you or travel, they (and you) will be able to learn more about Corban and access important information through our online Warrior Welcome portal. Log in information will go to students the week of August 21st. Stay tuned for more info.
