KWBX's First Year... 2002-2003
Salem's first college radio station, KWBX (FM 90.3), began broadcasting from the Corban University campus on April 1, 2002. After nearly one year of broadcasting Christian Hit Music 24 hours a day, KWBX added some of its own local and specially produced one minute programming plus, aired the first Warrior basketball games ever heard on KWBX.
KWBX is airing church and community events important to the station’s audience plus, devotional segments. The various one minute segments air Monday through Saturday at about 20 minutes and 50 minutes past the hour.
KWBX broadcast Corban's final women's and men’s regular season home games against Oregon Tech in February 2003, plus playoff games from Salem, Klamath Falls and Ashland. KWBX also aired the Lady Warriors playing at the NAIA Women’s Basketball Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa, March 12.
KWBX staff visited the Educational Media Foundation Broadcast headquarters in Rocklin, Calif. in February 2003 and met with Air1 / KLOVE network announcers, management and staff. It was a blessing to discover that EMF's listener-supported ministry is always expanding and improving to better reach more people with the Gospel through music on both the radio and the Internet.
Tune into KWBX or listen to Air1 on the web and hear the message with the music -- the positive alternative!
