John Ritter, an adjunct professor of history at Corban University, will lead a visual presentation about the underground secrets of Salem at 7 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 25.
The free event will take place at Clockworks Cafe & Cultural Center, 241 Commercial St. NE.
Ritter will tell about what went on underneath Salem’s streets in the late 1800s, from secret opium dens to illegal stills. He also will reveal his discoveries, including tunnels to nowhere and piles of bones.
