June 18, 4 p.m.–10 p.m.
On Friday, June 18, Corban University will host three games of the high-school girls’ basketball players who have been named the best in the State of Oregon. The Oregon High School Girls Basketball Coaches Association (OHSGBCA) sponsors the games, which present this year’s 4A, 3A, and 2A All-Star Teams.
Friday evening’s event, located in the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center on Corban’s campus at 5000 Deer Park Dr. in Southeast Salem, represents the first half of a two-day game series where the East and West Oregon All-Stars go head to head for the win. (The second day is hosted by another institution.)
As a host campus, Corban Athletics staff and Warriors of the Women’s Basketball Team lend their time and talents to the OHSGBCA. Assistant Athletic Director Tim Seiber said, “We have traditionally had great support and presence at this event. The Women’s Basketball Team turns out in force, with coaches and players filling a variety of roles from clock/scoreboard operator and PA announcer to bench attendants and team greeters. Corban’s Sports Information has always provided complimentary game statistics and post-game media information; the Warrior Athletics Association has operated concessions.”
The high school players also benefit from the “bigger-atmosphere feel” of the University, said Women’s Head Coach Terry Williams. He continued, “This is great exposure because it touches so many high schools across the State. It’s a good service for high school sports.”
The public is welcome to Corban’s campus for the East/West All-Star Series. The OHSGBCA charges $5 for general admission; $3 for students with ID and for senior citizens. Proceeds support the All-Star Series. Children 6 and under are admitted free of charge. Souvenir programs will be $3, and T-Shirts and sweatshirts will also be on sale.
Game schedule is as follows:
2A All-Stars Game, 4 p.m.
3A All-Stars Game, 6 p.m.
4A All-Stars Game, 8 p.m.
