The music department presents pianist Brian Swearingen in his junior recital on Friday, April 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Psalm Performing Arts Center. Trained in both traditional classical methods and jazz piano, Swearingen will perform a mixed repertoire.
The program features a piano sonata by Domenico Scarlatti, two sonatinas by Friedrich Kuhlau, a prelude by Fréderic Chopin, and three selections from Prokofiev’s “Visions fugitives.” Several of the works were written by composers who were “transitional composers,” forward-thinking for their time. Swearingen will be joined by guest vocalist Carolyn Gage, a sophomore at Western Oregon University, for “I Remember You” by Johnny Mercer and Victor Schertzinger and “Twisted” by Anne Ross.
On-campus parking, concert admission, and the on-site reception following the performance are free. For more information, please contact the music department at 503-375-7019 or email@example.com.
