Whether teaching is a goal you’ve always wanted to pursue or a second career you’re ready to dive into, Corban’s Graduate Teacher Licensure (GTL) program will prepare you to teach any age group from early childhood to high school in a public or private school setting.
The GTL program is designed for those who have an accredited bachelor’s degree but haven’t completed a course of study in education. Upon completion of the program, you will be eligible for a Preliminary Oregon Teaching License and on your way to becoming a professional educator.

The GTL program is nationally accredited by the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP). This full accreditation acknowledges that the program prepares effective educators who continue to grow as professionals and has demonstrated the commitment and capacity to maintain quality.
Corban is dedicated to equipping teachers to engage their students toward academic success, implement best practices in teaching, and be effective with Common Core standards. Practicums and classroom exposure early in the program allow you to gain practical experience right away, better preparing you for the road ahead. These opportunities help you understand education from the professional’s perspective and reaffirm your desire to teach a certain age level or subject area.

Those who complete the Graduate Teacher Licensure program will be prepared to pursue their Preliminary Teaching License through TSPC. Corban offers Elementary or Secondary Authorizations, with the following content area endorsements:

Format
This completely online program offers a flexible, hybrid course structure that mixes scheduled meetings with work you’ll complete on your own schedule so you can balance life and graduate coursework. Scheduled meetings allow you to connect with faculty and your cohort, and these dates will be provided at the beginning of each term for easy scheduling. The majority of your coursework will be completed online when it works for you.

Program Outcomes
Our instruction is Bible-centered and communicated in a caring environment that encourages scholarly and intellectual inquiry and Christ-like servant leadership. Completing this program will allow the student to apply for an Oregon Teaching License. Throughout the process, students will:
- Write a Personal Biblical Philosophy of Education.
- Differentiate between the various teaching and learning theories.
- Demonstrate effective instructional planning, the use of teaching strategies that reflect an understanding of individual student differences.
- Design and implement assessment strategies that provide an analysis of the progress and needs of all students.
- Demonstrate characteristics of a teaching professional that include a collaborative mindset, ability to receive constructive criticism, and commitment to positive professional relationships.
- Design instruction that values the characteristics of academically and culturally diverse populations of students.
Expert Faculty
At Corban, we believe in teaching what we know from firsthand experience—not just from theory. Our Graduate Education faculty have real world experience as elementary, middle, high and international school teachers in a variety of subjects, and in both faith-based and public school settings. They’ve also been ESOL and Reading Specialists, administrators and program directors in addition to their expertise at the college level.

Cost per credit: $605
Program credits: 29 (secondary authorization) or 30 (elementary authorization)
By concentrating on the courses required for licensure, the GTL program’s accelerated format cuts down the number of credits and ultimately the cost associated with becoming an Oregon teacher. You’ll take only 29-30 credits, and up to 12 of those credits can transfer to Corban’s Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.).
