Club meetings
Stinky Bagels
Stinky Bagels is the poetry club of Corban University, sponsored by ASB. Stinky Bagels’ meetings are open to current students, alums, faculty, and staff, and the occasional visit from members of the community. The goal of Stinky Bagels is to encourage and nurture poetry writing on campus in a safe, fun environment. Also, once a year they hold a poetry contest for current students. ASB funds the prizes for the poetry contest. Any questions about the club should be directed to Colette Tennant at 503-589-8103.
Storytelling: Twisted Tales
The sun is shining, the grass is green, the gentle slope of the park's one hill rises above you. In the shade of a small grove of ash trees, you see a group of children, none of them older than fourteen, a variety of ages ranging from the very short and full of wonder to the veterans, nearly too old of middle school. In the center of their little circle, a little boy is relating an exciting tale about the weekend's camping trip with his dad, sliding first this way, then that, suddenly throwing himself to the ground to illustrate an enormous fish that tried to jump right into their canoe.
Story-telling can take many forms; books, paintings, music, spoken words, dance, film, photography, comic strips, craft projects, acting, mime, scribbled illustrations on a napkin- almost anything can tell a story. We are Twisted Tales, Corban's resident story-telling club. We are dedicated to the sharing of story through any medium, no matter how unusual. Our focus is on the interest of the members, so we can and do offer a wide range of exercises and games to get our creative juices flowing. We meet on alternate weeks, with times and locations to be announced.
