Can I attend the conference for just one day? How about two days?

Yes! This conference is designed to accommodate busy schedules. If you’d like to attend for one day and one day only, the cost is $50 if you are a young adult and $140 if you are an adult. This entitles you to attend all sessions and activities and all meals. If you’d like to attend for two days, the costs for YA are $100 and for adults is $280. Costs for three days: YA $150, adult $420.

If I want to register for two or more days, do I have to spend the night on campus?

No. There are many fine hotels and motels in the Salem0Keizer area. However, staying on campus is highly encouraged for several reasons. Additional charged for overnight housing on-campus is minimal ($20 per night). Many of the friendships and connections conference participants make occur in the informal, non-scripted venues: the dining halls, the café, the common rooms of the dorms. These are the places where you are likely to find lively and spirited conversation and opportunities to exchange ideas and, perhaps, even your writing, in a more intimate setting with new friends. Residing on campus also facilitates quick access to the various venues.

How do I register for specific classes or mentor meetings?

Once you complete the registration process you will be notified by the director that your registration has been received. About six weeks before open registration closes, we will contact you regarding your class preferences and whether or not you'd like to meet with a mentor.

Are any of the events free and open to the public?

Yes. The evening performances and lectures on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 7:00 pm in the Psalm center are free and open to the public.

Do I need to pre-register for classes?

No. Class rooms are spacious and many classes will be offered more than once.

What is a mentor? What does a mentor do?

Our mentors are professional writers of national reputation. They have agreed to consult with conference attendees and offer advice and writing tips during a twenty minute one-on-one meeting with conference participants who wish to meet with a mentor. If you would like to have such a meeting, you will need to forward to gochsner@corban.edu a work sample for a mentor’s consideration by May 29, 2013. We will then send the work sample to the mentor who will then review the work sample and make comments. While some of the mentors do edit and do work in the literary world, they are not agents and cannot promise to find an agent for you or publish your work. Nor can they review additional work samples you might have with you at the conference. They can, however, offer helpful suggestions for you to consider in your artistic and literary pursuits.
