Running time approx. 1 hour 45 min.
The Odyssey reenacts and narrates some of the adventures that the Greek hero, Odysseus, encounters on his long trek home to Ithaca after his victorious conquering of Troy. The play-within-a- play format features a Stranger who arrives in Penelope’s court claiming to have news of her long absent husband, Odysseus. His recounting of Odysseus’ journey fills in the ten-year gap of Penelope’s life where she wasn’t sure if her husband was living or dead. As the Stranger fleshes out those absent years, a vision of the man her husband has become emerges for Penelope.
This lively adventure of dangerous women; scheming men; threatening monsters; and angry, unpredictable Greek gods combines to ensure an exciting piece of theatre that is truly epic.
