Willamette Invitational track meet

Warriors keep setting records

Unfavorable weather at the two-day Willamette Invitational on April 5-6 did not slow race times for Corban’s track team.

At McCullough Stadium senior Danielle Jordan set a new personal and school record by almost 17 less seconds in the 5,000 meter race. She was the top NAIA runner, defeating seven NAIA competitors.

“The team did well,” said Jordan. “It was hard weather to compete in, but some great times came out of the meet.”

Seniors Jill Nielsen and Sara Aikin finished the 5,000 meter race in 46th and 49th place respectively.

Sophomore Tera Stegner finished fourth in the 800-meter race for the Warriors.

Freshman Karissa Griggs finished 15th in the 400-meter dash.
For the Corban's men’s team, freshman Ben Search finished a team-best 9th in the 800 meter race. Freshman David Anderson, in his first race of the season, finished 14th in the 400 meter hurdles.

“We are all getting back out there after having a lot of injuries on the team,” said Search. “I think that I still can improve, but my races turned out well, and I think that they were honoring to God.”
Junior Jason Bernard finished in 17th place in the 1,500-meter race. He also helped the 4x400 relay team finish 7th place. Freshman Beau St. Peter, Anderson and Search were the other members of the relay team.

In the 5,000 meter race, junior Ben Snell, freshman Jason Hardrath and freshman Kevin Cook finished 52nd, 68th and 70th, respectively.
