Student Testimonies:

"I will never forget our last night camping in Zion. We were privileged to witness a breath-taking thunderstorm, complete with lightning and hail which forced us to set up camp in a hurry. We all huddled beneath the trees for dinner and compiled a hilarious campfire story which had us all laughing despite being wet. The wonder of the storm and the joy of each other’s company made our last night in Zion a night to remember."
-Kendra Crosby

"The Wanaha Wilderness trip easily makes the top three experiences of the school year for me.  I can't wait for wherever it is we go next year because it is a guarantee to experience the best of nature.  But maybe even more than that; meet and get to know better the best people Corban College has to offer."
- Brent Fahsholz

"I was so happy to camp and hike in such a beautiful place that is actually part of my home state of Oregon. It gave me much experience for future backpacking trips that I found extremely valuable. The group I went with was perfect. Everyone was a team member and loved everything about the trip. Most importantly, the trip I went on was God-centered. Much thankfulness and worship was offered to Him throughout. In short, I can't wait until next year!"
-Luke Streckfuss

"Hiking the wild Pacific Coast and the Ho River Valley of the Olympic National Forest was an exciting experience. We saw amazing ocean scenery, sunshine, sunsets, old growth timber, rain and even snow! The backpacking trip was not a walk in the park, but it was full of adventure, good conversation, worship, and natural beauty. If you've never gone backpacking, a Westrek trip with Professor Scott and fellow WB students is a great way to get into it. However, even if you've done lots of backpacking, you won't be bored on a Westrek trip!"
-John Guppy

"Westrek gave me such an incredible opportunity to experience the beauty of God's creation. Our hike along the coast line was absolutely beautiful. From there, our journey into the Hoh River Rain Forest was an adventure that I will never forget. It was far from easy, yet a joyous experience. I learned so much, enjoyed sweet fellowship, and saw God's beautiful handprint on His creation. I am so thankful to have been part of such a great trip."
-Keriann Rumrey

"The Olympic National Park trip was fun and exciting. We got to see some beautiful sights. We hiked in a variety of landscapes such as mountains, forests, streams, and beaches. I would recommend this trip to anyone who enjoys the outdoors."
-Jon Goertz

"Westrek has been a great place to fellowship with other believers in God's creation. My first trip with them was last year; We spent 5 days backpacking on the beautiful Rogue river. It has been such a blessing to meet people with similar interests and to enjoy the outdoors on all levels."
- SaraJane Campbel

"I joined the Westrek trip 3 years ago and went to Eastern Oregon's Wallowa Mountains and was awed by the beauty and wildlife we found in the Eagle Cap Wilderness. Studying about the Nez Pierce Indians stretched my view on this people group and what really went on, it also helped me to appreciate the overall history of Northeast Oregon as well as parts of Washington, Idaho, and my homeland Montana, as well as the difficulties Indians experienced during the era of White settlement. This course was challenging, and time well spent."
- Matt Cozby

"The Rogue River trip was an awesome experience! The {35} mile hike was a real challenge and definitely rewarding. It felt great at the end of a long day to take off those boots & see the miles of trail behind you."
- Jenni Marken

"Westrek is an absolutely awesome experience. It can be so hard at times when being surrounded by the luxuries of city life to truly stop and admire the many aspects of God's creation. Westrek gives you that change to stop and take a break from a fast-paced life and not only admire God's creation but to learn more about it. On Westrek you will be stretched, but if we don't allow God to stretch our boundaries how can we expect to grow? Trust me, you want to go on Westrek because it is an experience you'll never forget."
- Michelle Fox

" The Rogue River trip (May 2002) was a rigorous adventure through which 12 of us were able to take the classroom into God's creation and share lasting bonds that only come from persevering in the outdoors."
- Kate Scully

"The backpacking trip I took is definitely the most enjoyable "class" I have ever participated in. I highly recommend any excursions offered by Professor Scott. The gorgeous scenery, fascinating wildlife, and awesome exercise were my favorite parts. The coursework was interesting and useful, and the actual trip was adventurous. Don't pass up a Westrek opportunity!"
- Tyler Combs

"Westrek is a great way to have fun, see some of the most beautiful places in Oregon, and be challenged. I went on the Rogue River trip in May of 2002. This was my first backpacking trip in years. Even though I ended up getting very painful blisters from shoes that were too big, I still had an unforgettable time.

The uphill areas along warm mountainsides were spent in prayer for strength and a desire to get to the next one; And the shady downhill areas were times to see the wonderful nature all around us. One of the best things about this trip was that we spent evenings learning about backpacking safety and tips which we could apply the next day. We also learned about the history of the Indians along the Rogue river. I spent a lot of time imagining what teh area would be like if Indians were still hiking the hills and camping along the river, in areas like where we camped.

I would recommend this trip, and any others offered by Westrek to anyone that loves the outdoors, loves being challenged, and loves feeling closer to God."
