END THE YEAR AS A HERO!

Fly on over to the end of the year party at Lori Schilling's Barn (7315 Labish Center Rd. NE Salem, OR 97305) THIS SATURDAY April 27th from 4:00-10:00pm for dinner, inflatables, giant hamster balls, s'mores, worship and of course a huge FIREWORK show to end the year with a bang!  Come dressed as your favorite Superhero! Gift cards will be given out to Corban student drivers if every seat is filled in the car, as parking space is limited. We (ASB) hope to celebrate a fantastic year with you!

POETRY READING

The poetry & prose reading, as well as announcement of the poetry and short story contest winners, is Tuesday, April 30^th at 7p.m in Emitte.

SENIOR WEEKEND

Both of Corban’s baseball and softball teams will be honoring their seniors on Saturday during their final home games of the season! The Warrior baseball program will honor nine seniors that will be putting on the Corban uniform for the final time in front of the home fans beginning at 12:40 p.m. on Warrior Field. At the opposite end of the SportsPlex, Corban’s nationally-ranked softball team will be honoring eight seniors that have helped turn the program into a national powerhouse, immediately following the conclusion of Saturday’s double header against Northwest. Be sure to come down and cheer on both teams in their final home games of the regular season.

CCC TITLE ON THE LINE FOR WARRIOR BASEBALL

On Friday, No. 9-ranked Corban will take on No. 19-ranked Concordia with the Cascade Collegiate Conference regular season title on the line. If the Warriors either sweep or earn a split with the Cavaliers, then they will be the regular season champions and earn the right to host the conference tournament (May 2-3) as the top seed. The afternoon double header begins at 2:00 p.m. so be sure to come out early to get a good seat and watch the excitement happen.

MARCH TOWARD NAIA HISTORY

Senior softball player Stephanie Nippert is one swing away from becoming the NAIA’s all-time career home run record holder, as the fourth-year Warrior currently has 76 career home runs and is tied with former Lubbock Christian three-time All-American Kim Frazier. Stephanie has four games this weekend at home where she can break the record so be sure not to miss any of the exciting action this weekend on Warrior Field.

END-OF-THE-YEAR AWARDS

Congratulations to seniors Stephanie Nippert and Derek Legg on being named Female and Male Athletes of the Year, as well as Liane DeHart and Jacob Kopra on being named Senior Scholar-Athletes of the Year earlier this week at the Athletic Awards Dessert!

RETURNING CAMPUS KEYS

If you are a student on campus who has checked out keys from Campus Care (whether for a job on campus or a medical need to use the elevator), those keys are due back to Campus Care by April 26. If for some reason you need your key during finals or have any other questions, please email campuscare@corban.edu.

FROM THE MAIL ROOM! (your favorite spot on campus!)

Soon you will be leaving Corban for the summer break. Whether graduating, returning to Corban, attending a different college, getting married or just not sure, you will need to fill out a Forwarding Address Form for summer break. These forms will be available in the mail room the week of April 8^th. All students need to fill one out, or your mail will be returned to sender.

RESCHEDULING A FINAL: If you need to reschedule a final  pick up a rescheduling form in the Registrar’s Office.  Rescheduling finals is an option only with unavoidable emergency, if you have two exams scheduled at the same time or more than three exams in one day.

COMMENCEMENT 2013: Saturday, May 4^th: 2:00 pm, Salem Armory Auditorium.

· Graduates will need to be at the Armory by 12:15 pm to participate in rehearsal. 

· Doors will open at 1:00 pm for all other guests.

“Deep Change”

As many are now aware, Student Life is going through some deep change here at Corban. We are losing both our Vice President (Nancy Hedberg) and our Director of Counseling (Stephanie Husk). Prior to these announcements we had decided to change our Residence Life structure. Betsey Jaskilka will be departing from her role as RD of Aagard, and with that every other RD role is changing.

Here is a brief breakdown of Res Life as it will look this upcoming fall:

Katy Drake will be Area Coordinator of Farrar and Aagard.

Casey Van Dyk will be Area Coordinator of Balyo and Davidson.

Nicole Pearson will be Area Coordinator of PVG.

Ben Pearson will become the Assistant Director of Student Programs, which means he will advise ASB and assist in the planning of all events and mission trips that are student initiated. He will also be assisting our student leader training to increase the experiential learning components.

Eugene Edwards will be moving out to the town houses and will provide support for our commuter population including the research and development of programming. In addition he will manage all housing processes and direct the CLT program. Basically, he’ll be a busy guy with impact in a lot of areas!

Each of these individuals is key to the success of Student Life and while we are pained at the loss of those mentioned earlier, it is a blessing that those who remain have all accepted these changes with grace and excitement for the future. Change is never easy. However, when approached as an opportunity, it can be a very invigorating experience. There are exciting days ahead for Student Life here at Corban. Our mission remains constant. Our goal is that these changes provide greater opportunity for us to educate students who make an impact in the world for Jesus Christ.
