Laurie SmithAssistant Professor of Psychology

I have been married for 38 years (as of Fall 2012!) to my wonderful and fun husband, Dan. We have three married kids who light up our life. So far, we have four fantastic and fabulous grandsons who bring great joy to our lives.
I started teaching in Corban’s psychology program in 1989, and am now back full-time again (full circle). I have spent many years teaching and counseling, and the two come together in many ways in my life.
I volunteer at Salem Hospital with a program called Compassionate Companions. We sit with people who are dying or extremely ill and don't always have family around, because no one should die alone. It is an honor and a mystery to walk through this journey with people.
I love to travel, and have had the opportunity to travel throughout southeast Asia. In my free time I read voraciously and love to cook, especially for friends and family!
Psalm 32:8 NLT
“The LORD says, ‘I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.’”
