Professional: As Director of Athletics, Greg’s responsibilities include oversight of the athletic department, athletic teams and the campus recreation programs.
Background: Upon graduating from Seattle Pacific University in 1977 with a degree in Business Administration, he obtained the CPA license and was a partner in the Salem CPA firm of Harris and Eide, CPAs from 1983 through 1998. He was also the CEO and an owner of Thomas Kay Textiles in Salem from 1989 through 2007, at which time the company was sold. Since that time he has been coaching local high school basketbal and golf teams and acting as a part-time athletic director at Scio High School. Greg is obtaining a masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University in Irvine, California with scheduled completion in 2014.
Personal: Greg has been married to his wife, Debbie, for 36 years and has two children. Tyler, age 26, resides and works in Seattle and McKenzie, age 23 is pursuing her college degree and resides in Salem. Greg has attended Salem Alliance Church since 1970, and has served on many local nonprofit boards such as Young Life, Habitat for Humanity, Willamette Christian School and Illahe Hills Country Club. He has been to Cambodia to build homes in villages, volunteer in orphanages, and plans to spend a significant amount of time with Debbie serving people in the United States and in other countries. He enjoys golf, hiking, kayaking and about any other outdoor activity and sport. His favorite quote is "the life that counts, is the life lived for others."
