Alexis taught in preschool, kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade bilingual classrooms in Puebla, Mexico; Santa Clara, Calif.; and the Salem-Keizer School District for 10 years prior to coming to Corban.
She helped write and administrate a Title VII grant which created a Spanish language preschool program in West Salem, which focused on early literacy skills and school-readiness for English Language Learners. She also served as the teacher for the program.
She taught as an adjunct instructor for the Education Dept. at Corban University for four years before accepting a position on faculty.
She and her husband, who is from Puebla, Mexico, live in Salem with their three children.
