Corban named CCC Presidents' Cup Award winner
Corban University’s athletes continued a tradition of academic excellence during the 2012/2013 school year. On July 2 the Cascade Collegiate Conference recognized these efforts by naming the university the inaugural Presidents' Cup award winners.
In July 2012 the CCC Council of Presidents created the Presidents' Cup Academic Award. The award was designed to recognize outstanding overall academic performance. Each member institution was scored using two criteria (overall student athlete GPA (men and women) and total number of student athletes receiving academic all-conference honors.
Eighty-four Corban student athletes were named Academic All-Conference while the combined grade point average of 3.28 propelled the Warriors to the top spot with 40 points.
The College of Idaho was the runner up with 35 points and sixty-nine Academic All-Conference honorees and a 3.16 combined student athlete GPA. Eastern Oregon University, Northwest Christian University and Concordia University rounded out the top five with 33, 28 and 24 points respectively.
To be considered for Academic All Conference, a student athlete must be of sophomore standing, been at the school for two consecutive semesters or three quarters and have a 3.2 or higher GPA.
