Office of Marketing & Communications

The Office of Marketing & Communications is located on the north end of the first floor of Schimmel Hall. Here you will find the office for the vice president for marketing and the communications office offering services including copy writing, graphic design, web design, photography, media relations, KWBX radio announcements, emergency lock down post and a full service copy center.


The Marketing & Communications office works with the media to place paid advertisements in local and national publications. The office is also responsible for the design of the advertisement to ensure compliance with graphic standards and publication requirements. If you are interested in placing an advertisement for an event contact the Marketing & Communications office.

Press Releases

The Marketing & Communications office is responsible for generating and distributing all of the college’s press releases. If your event is of interest to the general public, you may submit a request for a press release to the V.P. of Marketing. "Whassup" is a daily public event announcement broadcast twice and hour, on the college radio station, KWBX 90.3 fm, Air1, and is included in the event press release. It is recommended to submit your request at least one month before the event to ensure placement and time on-air. The service is free to churches and non profit agencies.

Public Relations

"The methods and activities employed to establish and promote a favorable relationship with the public," and "a promotion intended to create goodwill for a person or institution," as defined by Webster's Dictionary are the intentions of the Marketing & Communications office at Corban. PR defines how the public perceives Corban and is essential in communicating our mission and purpose "to educate Christians to make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ."

Graphic Design

The Marketing & Communications office offers graphic design services to each department of the college. The graphic standards of Corban are an important aspect to the overall image of the college and are carefully implemented by the Marketing & Communications office through our on-site graphic designers (see Policies). All external printing projects that represent any aspect of Corban University must be approved by the Marketing & Communications office. If departments have a project they would like to submit, this can be done through our online Project Request form.


Corban's website is designed, maintained and updated by Marketing & Communications and University Information Services. All departments and offices may send web changes via email to the Director of Institutional Marketing, Generally, web changes will be done within one week of request, but each request is unique depending on its complexity. 


The majority of the photos used in Corban's printed materials and web pages are taken by on-campus photographers. When there is a need for event documentation or a specific photo, contact the Communications office and setup a photo appointment.

CORBAN Magazine

CORBAN magazine is sent to Alumni and friends of Corban University three times a year. CORBAN contains updates and event information for the alumni association, news about the college, and stories about people who are carrying out the mission of the College. Click here to see the latest issue of CORBAN magazine or to search archives of past issues.

Copy Center

Corban's copy center is a full service center providing black and white and color copies on a variety of paper choices as well binding capabilities. Please call or stop by for assistance: 503-375-7157.

Writing & Grammar Guide

The Corban University Style Guide identifies grammar, information and writing styles preferred by the Communications Office, with the goal of bringing consistency to our various departmental and corporate communication pieces.

It also provides a quick reference with answers to repetitive and unique instances of writing and grammar that frequent our campus culture and that of higher education. The Associated Press Stylebook and the Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary are recommended as general sourcebooks for issues not covered in this guide.
