Two former presidents in need of our prayers
April 13, 2009
President Emeritus John G. Balyo, D. Min., and former president David F. Miller, D. Min., are currently experiencing significant health challenges. The Corban community extends our concern and prayers to these men and their families during these difficult days. Balyo, who is 89, entered an assisted living facility last year but was moved to a care home within the last several weeks. Friends and family close to him have notified the College that he is now under hospice care.
Miller was diagnosed with Lymphoma around 2003 and received treatment. He has been in remission until more recently when he has again been battling the disease. He was admitted to Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto, California, for an intense series of treatments. Following two weeks of in-patient treatment he was transferred to a nearby hotel to be near the medical facility where closer monitoring could take place for an additional period of time. He is expected to return to Walnut Creek to spend the next phase of his recovery at home.
