Young Alumni Event connects families and friends

February 11 , 2009

Last Saturday, the 2003-2008 alumni and their families came to watch the Warrior basketball teams in action. The third annual Young Alumni Event brought more than 80 people together with Warrior “FAN-atics” for this social opportunity.

Both traditional and Adult Degree undergrads were represented. Mostly local alumni attended, but one came from as far as Vancouver, Wash., said Director of Alumni, Deleen Wills. During halftime of the men’s game, the Advancement Office served refreshments for the former students and their guests.

Wills appreciates bringing the young alumni back to school and catching up on their lives since graduation, and she especially delights in meeting their children. “You don’t know if something those children experience at events like this will cause them to want to go to Mom’s or Dad’s college. They may be future Warriors. I love that!”

The Young Alumni Event paralleled the first annual Warrior “White Out,” where fans were encouraged to wear white shirts. ASB handed out and sold shirts as well. The “White Out” crowd, despite the Warrior teams’ losses, had something monumental to cheer about.
