Getting into better physical condition on campus has become even easier. Seven slightly used fitness machines have been added to the Sports Center. Physical education students and anyone else who utilizes the fitness equipment in the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center now have many more training options.
Dr. Dave Bale, an associate professor for human performance, says the added equipment increases the “selecterized” circuit to 16 stations which allows people to train with less wait time and have more options.
“We want to promote improved fitness habits for everyone on campus. These stations will provide anyone an enjoyable training circuit for covering just about every major muscle group in about 25 minutes,” Bale says.
With this new equipment and the newly added stability balls and medicine ball stations, Bale says class sizes for fitness/conditioning, strength training, or circuit training for women's courses can now be increased.
“The additional equipment means our athletic teams may complete a pre- or post-practice workout and not be intrusive to others who train at the same times,” he added.
Previously known as Physical Education, the Human Performance major had its curriculum revised in 1996. The major currently has 28 students who are preparing for careers in exercise science, sports management, and physical education.
