Since beginning classes for the college’s first-ever graduate studies program, the interest has grown substantially. With 19 students currently enrolled, the Graduate Studies Program in Education is expanding by adding at least 16 more students in January and many more later this summer.
“We expect several more to enroll in January as new students come in to register,” says Tara Cox, the program’s admission counselor. Tara is the program’s lead recruiter and says there are already at least 13 people forecasted to begin the program this summer and 31 more expected to enroll next fall.
“The students are hearing about this new dynamic program from various avenues; many by word of mouth. Prospective students like the flexibility in scheduling the coursework which allows them to go at their own pace,” Tara added, “whether they want to fast-track through the course work or take it one class at a time. The online and the night classes are also very appealing to non-traditional students who are working during the day and have otherwise busy schedules.”
Dr. Linda Samek, the Dean of Graduate Studies, says Tara’s follow-up work and pursuing potential students interested in the new program has been impressive.
“Tara’s been a wonderful asset in the growth of this program and for the interest that’s been generated so far,” Linda adds. “We’re excited as more people learn about and enroll to earn their Masters degree at a Christian college.”
The curriculum offers courses for post-baccalaureate students who are interested in obtaining an initial teaching license. It also offers a M.Ed. degree in either Curriculum and Instruction or Leadership Development for those who are already engaged in teaching or in Christian school administration.
