That figure is $5,000 more than was raised at last year's tournament and could increase slightly according to Nancy Sperling, the tournament's coordinator. "God really blessed the day and the people willing to participate and donate to our scholarship fund," Sperling said. Sperling helped to coordinate and organize the 2004 tournament after the passing, June 7, of her friend and Development Office co-worker, Nancy Wolfe who had worked to revive the event in recent years. "Nancy is truly one of the few Christians that I knew who really exhibited a servant's attitude in her devotion to her job, her family and the Lord," Hoff said at the tournament's dinner. "She organized a successful tournament fund raising program on campus that we now rely on so we can continue to raise scholarship funds for these events." Hoff
also had high praise and gratitude to the college's faithful alumni,
including Gary Chang and Jack Werre who annually give so much of their
time, effort and care in seeing that the alumni tournament succeeds.
"We can't have this tournament without the dedicated support of
alumni like Gary and Jack," Hoff added. Hoff had special praise for Sperling who stepped in and helped make this year's tournament one of the best to date. Top
