"Turkey Trot" Racers Enjoy Sunny Weather Under crisp yet mostly sunny weather conditions, more than 130 runners competed in the annual race of races on campus--the Turkey Trot--on Nov. 24. The fun race for student and employee walkers or runners is run every year prior to Thanksgiving and is sponsored by the ASWBC. At the finish line prizes were given according to each
running class. Winners included student runners Amy Davis and Brent Fahshhotlz;
walkers, Beth Rousch and Amy Visser (tie), and Michael Sanders; faculty-staff,
Daren Milionis (run) and Dr. Bob Mathisen (walk). Prizes were raffled off during the race from a large cache that had been donated by local merchants and Air 1. The grand prize--a TV / VCR / DVD combination entertainment center with speakers--was awarded to Jason Meaden. The race and event emcee, Doug West, said the competition was most friendly and spirited and he had not seen any better weather for this race in the nine years he had attended it. "It's always a great campus gathering. Brent Finkbeiner (ASWBC) coordinated a great event," Doug said. "We appreciate all the local businesses and organizations who donated the wonderful prizes." |
