Holiday Snow, Ice Blankets
the Campus |
A white Christmas it wasn't, but Western Baptist's campus
and surrounding area was blanketed with more than six inches of snow Dec.
29. With below freezing temperatures making travel dangerous, College
officials closed the campus.
By 8 a.m., WB's Campus Operations workers had discovered
downed trees and limbs. A tree uprooted near the Pavilion had fallen onto
and damaged a student's parked car. Another tree toppled near Aagard Hall,
but workers quickly sawed and cleared the limbs from both trees. Buildings
were inspected and a check of the campus was made for potential concerns.
The campus was reopened on Dec. 30.
This was the highest volume of snow to fall on campus in recent years.
