Some 100 students and faculty gathered around the College's flagpole at 7:30 a.m. to pray the annual "See You at the Pole" prayer vigil on Wed., Sept. 17.

Under blue skies the ASWBC Ministries Coordinator, Jamie Ruda, welcomed the group and began the 20-minute prayer vigil. She said the gathering reaffirmed the commitment to prayer that her fellow students have. Heartfelt prayers of praise, thanks and for wisdom were raised to God. Students asked the Lord for peace and healing, to bless the country's leaders and comfort to those in need of God's grace.

"It seemed the prayer on many of our hearts was the we would be real and genuine Christians so that we may be a light both on and off our campus," she said. "It's an awesome opportunity for us to gather together, as He commands, and pray to our Lord and witness the power of prayer."

Following the prayer time, coffee and hot cocoa were served to those in attendance. Jamie was also interviewed live later that morning on Western's KWBX radio by station manager Mike Allegre.
