Students Present Anti-Tobacco
Message to Middle Schoolers

Four Western Baptist student volunteers spent April 9 and 16 in middle school classrooms in Salem to educate younger students about the hazards of tobbaco use. Cyrus Rettman, Leah Rueter, Cindel Mikesell and Ryan S. Johnson vollunteered to explain the information provided by the Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center in Seattle.

"I love this age group," Leah said. "They're my true passion, so giving them accurate options about a bad habit that so many young people become involved with allows them to make a better more educated decision about using tobacco."

Cyrus and Leah will speak to two more classes before they graduate May 1. As a group, the foursome will reach over 200 youngsters with the tobacco hazards message.
