Vanweerdhuizen makes history during win against Concordia

Thursday, January 16, 2014

On Jan. 11, junior Tara Vanweerdhuizen became the 16th player in Corban women's basketball history to score 1,000-or-more career points in a victory over Concordia Saturday inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

Head coach Dave Bale said that the key to their success was due to the limited turnovers in the second half of the game.

"We did a great job of off-ball defense. We are 6-and-1 in conference and a lot of people weren't given us a chance. The ladies have stepped it up and are doing well, practicing and working hard. I'm proud of how everyone performed tonight." Vanweerdhuizen didn't know about her accomplishment until it was announced during the game.

"It's exciting, but I couldn't have done it without my team," said Vanweerdhuizen when asked about her accomplishment in being one of only 16 players to reach the 1,000 career point mark. .

Corban will take to the road beginning on Friday, January 17th, against nationally-ranked The College of Idaho beginning at 5:30 p.m. (Mountain Standard Time) inside the J.A Albertson Activities Center in Caldwell, Idaho. Visit GoWarriorsGo.com for a schedule of remaining games.
