On September 19, the public is invited to attend a free poetry writing workshop and lecture led by Oregon Poet Laureate, Paulann Petersen.
The workshop will be held at Corban University’s Salem campus from 3 to 4:30 p.m. During this time she will teach participants useful tools to create their own poetry. Pre-registration is required to attend this workshop.
At 7 p.m., she will hold a free public lecture about poetry with Andrew Tennant, a senior at Corban University and winner of the 2012 Edna Meudt Memorial Award from the National Federation of State Poetry Societies. Tennant will take part in a dual reading with Petersen during the lecture.
Petersen’s poems have been published in a variety of national and international literary magazines and featured in poetry anthologies. Additionally, she has written five books, including “Kindle” in 2008 and “The Voluptuary” in 2010. Her poetry has earned national recognition and awards. She was named Oregon’s poet laureate in 2010.
