Alumna featured for her work with San Francisco’s homeless

With her red kitten heels, stylishly short blond hair and Dior tortoiseshell glasses, Kara Zordel, ’00, looked ready to spend the day at a bohemian art gallery or the offices of a glossy fashion magazine.
Instead, she stuffed a canvas bag with granola bars and T-shirts and ventured out into the cold, drizzly weather to introduce herself to the dwellers of San Francisco's sidewalks and sketchy back alleys.
"I'm Kara," the 38-year-old announced to a man huddled under a pile of blankets and leaning against a chain-link fence in the South of Market neighborhood.
She handed him a shirt and a granola bar with a card stapled to the wrapper detailing her organization, Project Homeless Connect. Zordel is the executive director of the one-stop shop for homeless people to receive bimonthly services at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.
