Cross Country runners finish strong in conference championships

Warriors cross country set their feet to earth and pulled strong finishes in the Cascade Collegiate Conference championships held Nov. 6 in Klamath Falls, Ore.
On the men’s team, Sophomore Taylor Adrian ran his way to a top 25 finish to lead the Warriors men’s cross country team to sixth place in the final standings. He placed 22nd overall thanks to a final push, finishing the 8K course in 27:18.84.
Junior Caleb Goins was the second Warrior to reach the finish line after he placed 37th overall with a time of 28:14.10. A pair of sophomores also contributed points for the Warriors. David Brown and Jacob Bowdoin finished 41st and 42nd with times of 28:29.12 and 28:31.40.
On the women’s team, Junior Courtney Welling finished in the top 30. She was the fastest individual
Warrior runner on the 5k course after finishing in 20:31.77.
Warrior freshman Christi Schmitz ran her way into the top 40 runners in crossing the finish line with in 21:09.91. Senior Bianca Davis concluded her Corban cross country career as the third fastest female Warrior on the day, clocking 21:56.47 to take 50th place individually. Right behind Davis was junior Amy Renfro who finished 51st with a time of 22:07.20.
The Cascade Collegiate Conference is one of the toughest cross country conferences in the nation. Saturday's meet featured four teams in the NAIA’s top 25 including No. 6 College of Idaho and No. 8 Southern Oregon.
