Fifteen student-athletes earn Academic All-CCC honors

Monday, December 10, 2007

Five cross-country runners, three men’s soccer players and three women’s volleyball players from Corban teams earned Academic All-Cascade Collegiate Conference honors, as announced from conference headquarters in Portland, Oregon earlier this month. Altogether, seventy-five athletes were named from fall sports teams representing the eleven Cascade Conference schools.

For the first time, CCC honored students for their academic as well as athletic achievements. A 3.5 cumulative grade point average, sophomore standing or higher, and competition in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests made up the requirements.

Winning recognition among Corban’s women athletes were cross country runners Danielle Jordan (senior), Sara Aikin (senior), Jill Nielsen (senior), and Carli Moller (sophomore); soccer players Megan Waunch (senior), Sara Laughlin (senior), Karyn Allen (junior), and Jessica Matthews (sophomore); and volleyball players Chelsea Reeher (junior), Rashelle Davenport (junior), and Amy Johnson (sophomore). Honored men athletes were soccer players Caleb Louvier (senior), Andrew Brown (senior), and Quinn Neely-Gallagher (senior); and cross country runner Brian Beeson (junior).

Six of the student-athletes also received national recognition for their academics. National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Academic All-American honors went to Louvier, Brown, Neely-Gallagher, Reeher, Davenport, and Johnson earlier in December.
