Spring 2012

Arts Week Student Recital
February 7, 7:30 p.m.
A variety of seasoned student musicians will perform as part of Corban Arts Week. The concert will feature solos and original compositions, artwork and poetry. For more on other events during Corban Arts Week, go to events at www.corban.edu  

“Celtic Pilgrimage” with John Doan
February 10, 8:00 p.m.
Salem guitar artist John Doan will present a beautiful concert of Celtic music and stories as part of Corban Arts Week. Tickets are required. For more on other events during Corban Arts Week, go to events at www.corban.edu  

12th Annual Hymn Festival:  The Incarnate Word
March 1 & 2, 7:30 p.m.
First Presbyterian Church
770 Chemeketa Street NE, Salem
Come celebrate Jesus, the Incarnate Word, as expressed through Scripture and our rich hymn heritage. The Corban music department will lead this evening of worship.

Senior Recital:  Abigail Edwards, piano
April 3, 7:30 p.m.
Miss Edwards will perform works by Bach, Beethoven, Khachaturian, Chopin, and Grieg. She will be assisted by Bethea Gliebe, piano. Miss Edwards and Miss Gliebe are students of Mrs. Peggy Dougherty.

Corban Middle School Band Festival
April 5, 8 a.m.–6 p.m.
This non-competitive festival will provide clinics and adjudicated performance opportunities for middle school bands from the greater Salem area.

Student Recital
April 10, 12 p.m.
This recital will feature a variety of solo performances by Corban music students.

Senior Recital:  Rachelle Schafer, harp
April 14, 7:30 p.m.
Miss Schafer will play works by Rameau, Beethoven, Hasselmans, Debussy, Ibert, Massenet, Granados, and Andrès. She will be assisted by Miss Anna Unruh, violin, and her instructor, Mr. Jeff Parsons.

Student Recital
April 17, 12 p.m.
This recital will feature a variety of solo performances by Corban music students.

Band & Orchestra Concert: Sounds of Joy
April 20, 7:30 p.m.
Corban’s instrumental ensembles will perform music of substance, beauty, and joy, featuring works by Adam Gorb, David Holsinger, P.D.Q. Bach, Dvořák and Beethoven.

Legacy Showcase
April 22, 4 p.m.
Join the Corban music ensembles in celebrating the blessings God has provided during the 16-year legacy of Dr. Virginia Cross. As Dr. Cross retires this year, we are recognizing the many benefits God has brought to Corban through her influence.

This recital will feature a variety of solo performances by Corban music students.

April 24, 7:30 p.m.
Miss Stapp will perform works by Bach, Beethoven, Debussy, Rachmaninoff, and Prokofiev, assisted by Lindsay West, piano. Miss Stapp and Miss West are students of Mrs. Peggy Dougherty.

Jazz Night: In the Beginning… and Other Stories
April 26, 7:30 p.m.
The Jazz Band will use jazz, fusion, and Latin music to share the story of creation, the fall of man, and the redemption of the world.

Choir Concert
April 27, 7:30 p.m.
The Concert and Chamber Choirs will perform favorite music including spirituals and gospel songs. Chamber Choir will perform selections prepared for their 2012 Central Europe tour.
