GREEK DRINKING CUP
This is a "Kylix," from Athens, c.
500 BC. A "Kylix" is "a shallow circular earthenware
drinking cup, having at the sides small handles slightly curved
upward but not rising above the rim, and resting on a slender and moderately high foot: used chiefly at banquets.
(Funk & Wagnalls, 1913) (Compare Calix). So also Savage: "A
larger drinking cup which is both wide and shallow." (p. 49)
