Frequently Asked Questions

What programs do you offer in education?

  1. Post-Baccalaureate Initial Teaching License
  2. Endorsements in Reading, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages/Bilingual)
  3. Master of Science in Education with specialized tracks in:
    1. Curriculum & Instruction
    2. Continuing Teaching License
    3. Reading Specialist
    4. ESOL Specialist
  4. Continuing Education Units

Do you have a licensing program?
Yes. We offer Post-Baccalaureate classes that culminate in a recommendation to Teacher Standards and Practices Commission of Oregon for licensure.

How long does the licensure program take?
You can complete the program in approximately 4 semesters (approx. 16 months). They consist of 3 semesters of course work and a final semester of field experience in the level/levels of authorization you are seeking. Students who do not wish to complete the program in a short amount of time can complete the program at their own pace (up to three years).

How much does the program cost?
Both programs are $470 per credit hour (2008-09). The Post-Baccalaureate tuition is from $11,280-$12,690 depending on the level of authorization you are seeking. Tuition for the Master of Education is from $15,510 - $16,450 depending on the specialized track you choose. If you complete the licensure program with us and go on to complete the Master of Education, it will be approximately an additional $11,300.

Can you complete the program online?

  • The Master of Education can be completed entirely online.
  • The Post-Baccalaureate program requires coursework to be completed on campus with occasional online instruction.

Do you offer financial aid?
We can offer Stafford loans for students enrolled at least part-time (4 credits) in a graduate program. Candidates will need to complete the FAFSA to receive award information. There are no grants available from Corban College, but we encourage prospective students to look for graduate scholarships available through your school or district (if you are a teacher), or through private organizations.

Do you accommodate non-traditional students?
Yes. Our classes are held in the evenings on campus during the week or online. In the summer we offer two-week intensives as well as online courses. The program is designed to allow students to complete the program at their own pace.

When can I start?
You can begin at the start of any semester: fall, spring, or summer. Applicants should talk with the Graduate Admissions Counselor for more information concerning start dates.
