Choral Sight Reading Workshop
 October 7 - 9, 2008

This workshop will be offered in three parts:

Director's Only - October 7
9:00am - 1:00pm
Directors will share ideas and experiences about teaching sight singing, recent research and how it should affect our teaching. Participants will do hands-on demonstrations and exercises for teaching and developing our singers' sight singing skills.

Intermediate Workshop - October 8
9:00am - 2:00pm
Students will sight read with solfege and hand signs. Students must already know note names, key signatures and basic rhythms. Major diatonic and some minor homophonic literature will be studied.

Beyond the Basics - October 9
9:00am - 2:00pm
Advanced sight reading for students already skilled in solfege and rhythm.
Minor keys will start on "la".  Major, minor, homophonic and polyphonic
 literature will be intensely studied.
