Runners finish 27th at first-ever NAIA Championships

LOUISVILLE, Ken. – Junior Danielle Jordan (Medford, Ore.), freshman Carli Moller (Vancouver, Wash.), and freshman Bernice Soto (Aumsville, Ore.) paced Corban's women's cross country team to a 27th place finish at its first-ever NAIA Championships on Saturday.
Jordan led the NAIA's No. 16-ranked Warriors with a time of 19:45.00 to place 126th individually out of 268 runners. The transfer from NCAA Division I Liberty University spearheaded a trio of runners that finished back-to-back-to-back individually.
Moller finished the 5K course in a time 19:45.50, while Soto turned in a time of 16:46.00 to finish 127th and 128th respectively.
Freshman Tera Stegner (Damascus, Ore.) finished 224th in a time of 20:43.50, while juniors Jill Nielsen (Baker City, Ore.) and Ashley Adams (Lebanon, Ore.) turned in times of 20:50.45 and 20:50.55 to finish 228th and 229th respectively. Junior Sara Aikin (Lebanon, Ore.) finished her first-ever NAIA Championship race in a time of 21:19.70 for a 247th place showing.
As a team, the Warriors finished with a team total of 587 points in a combined time of 1:37:49.45.
Corban’s cross country team ended its 2006 season with a pair of team titles, including its first-ever Cascade Collegiate Conference title. Individually, Moller won the first-ever Corban/Warner Pacific Invitational held at Bush Park in Salem.
For the women, Aikin, Nielsen, junior Ashley Ruitta (Astoria, Ore.), and freshman Stephanie Clark (Tacoma, Wash.) were named NAIA All-American Scholar-Athletes on Friday, while seniors Thomas Berney (Oregon City, Ore.) and Brent Fahsholz (Canby, Ore.) earned NAIA All-American Scholar-Athlete honors on the men's side.
