Warriors bring home pair of second place finishes

COQUITLAM, B.C. - Running in its first-ever Pinetree Classic, Corban's men's and women's cross country teams brought home a pair of second place finishes thanks to individual showings of 7th place by junior Ben Snell (Spray, Ore.) and 8th place by senior Danielle Jordan (Medford, Ore.).
Competing against Simon Fraser University, Corban finished second behind both the men's team and the four-time defending NAIA champion women's team from Burnaby, British Columbia.
Leading the way for the women's team was Jordan, who finished the 6K course in a time of 18:00.96 to claim 8th individually. Meanwhile, sophomore Carli Moller (Vancouver, Wash.) completed the course in a time of 18:51.80 to finish in the top 15.
Rounding out the team qualifiers were freshman Ali Ghavami (Keizer, Ore.) in a time of 19:00.24 (18th overall), freshman Karissa Griggs (Athena, Ore.) in a time of 19:03.58 (19th overall), sophomore Tera Stegner (Damascus, Ore.) in a time of 19:13.00 (20th overall), senior Sara Aikin (Lebanon, Ore.) in a time of 19:26.00 (21st overall), and senior Jill Nielsen (Baker City, Ore.) in a time of 19:38.00 (21st overall).
Freshmen Alyssa Powers (Goldendale, Wash.), freshman Andrea Collins (Spangle, Wash.), senior Ashley Adams (Lebanon, Ore.), freshman Madison Lewis (Anchorage, Alaska), freshman Bobbie Clauson (Emmett, Idaho), and sophomore Melissa Peterson (Cascade, Ore.) all competed as individuals.
On the men's side, Snell turned in a time of 26:29.10 on the 8K course to finish 7th individually in helping lead the Warriors. Meanwhile, sophomore Jeffrey Schloemer (Mt. Vernon, Wash.) and junior Brian Beeson (Soldotna, Alaska) turned in a pair of sub-28 minute races in times of 27:04.00 and 27:28.00 respectively to finish in the top 15 individually.
Along with the sub-28 minute trio, freshman Kevin Cook (Ashland, Ore.), junior Jason Bernard (Salem, Ore.), freshman Jason Hardrath (Baker City, Ore.), and sophomore Michael Baxter (Kent, Wash.) rounded out the scoring for the Warriors. The quartet ran the course in 28:24.00, 28:28.00, 29:07.00, and 29:11.00 respectively.
Competing as individuals for the Warriors were freshmen Ben Search (Battleground, Wash.) and Nathan Moller (Vancouver, Wash.).
Corban is next in action on Saturday, September 29th, when the Warriors take part in the 33rd annual Chuck Bowles Invitational hosted by NCAA Division III member Willamette University at Bush Pasture Park in Salem beginning at 9:00 a.m.
