Snell paces Warriors to fourth place at Lewis & Clark Invite

ESTACADA, Ore. – At the annual Lewis & Clark Invitational on Saturday, Corban's men's cross country team finished fourth overall behind a strong running by junior Ben Snell (Spray, Ore.) thanks to his 11th place finish individually at McIver State Park.

As a team, the Warriors finished with a team total of 118 points trailing Invitational winner Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (29), Linfield (71), and Whitman (75).

Corban outlasted four teams -- Invitational-host Lewis & Clark (5th place - 123 pts.), Pacific Lutheran (6th place - 140 pts.), fellow CCC member Warner Pacific (7th place - 175 pts.), and fellow CCC member Cascade (8th place - 226 pts.) -- for its second highest finish in Estacada since winning the event two years ago.

Along with Snell's time of 26:52.00, sophomore Jeffrey Schloemer (Mt. Vernon, Wash.), junior Jason Bernard (Salem, Ore.), and freshman Kevin Cook (Ashland, Ore.) finished in the top 40. Schloemer ran the 8K course in a time of 27:47.00, which was good for 34th place. Bernard and Cook finished 36th and 38th respectively in times of 27:52.00 (Bernard) and 28:05.00 (Cook).

Rounding out the team qualifiers were junior Brian Beeson (Soldotna, Alaska) in a time of 28:10.00, freshman Jason Hardrath (Baker City, Ore.) in a time of 30:01.00, and freshman Nathan Moller (Vancouver, Wash.) in a time of 31:11.00.

Freshmen Beau St. Peter (Salem, Ore.) and Daniel Obenchain (Boise, Idaho), along with senior Joel Cruz (Daly City, Calif.), all competed as individuals.

Corban is next in action on Saturday, September 22nd, when the Warriors travel north to Burnaby, British Columbia to take part in the Pinetree Invitational hosted by Simon Fraser University beginning at 12:00 p.m.
