Jordan leads Warriors at season-opening Invitational

ESTACADA, Ore. – In its first race of the season, Corban's women's cross country team turned in a second place finish at the Lewis & Clark Invitational behind the fourth place individual showing by senior Danielle Jordan (Medford, Ore.) Saturday at McIver State Park.

As a team, the Warriors finished with a team total of 78 points trailing only Invitational winner and NCAA Division III member Whitman (57 points).

Corban outlasted seven other teams -- Pacific Lutheran (3rd place - 85 pts.), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (4th place - 87 pts.), Invitational host Lewis & Clark (5th place - 88 pts.), UC Santa Cruz (6th place - 119 pts.), fellow CCC member Concordia (7th place - 184 pts.), fellow CCC member Oregon Tech (8th place - 216 pts.), and Linfield (9th place - 265 pts.) -- to post its highest finish ever in Estacada.

Along with Jordan's time of 23:02.00, sophomore Carli Moller (Vancouver, Wash.) completed the 6K course in a time of 23:42.00 to finish in the top 10 at 8th overall.

Rounding out the team qualifiers were sophomore Tera Stegner (Damascus, Ore.) in a time of 24:27.00, freshman Ali Ghavami (Keizer, Ore.) in a time of 24:43.00, senior Sara Aikin (Lebanon, Ore.) in a time of 24:44.00, freshman Karissa Griggs (Athena, Ore.) in a time of 24:45.00, and senior Jill Nielsen (Baker City, Ore.) in a time of 25:14.00.

Freshmen Alyssa Powers (Goldendale, Wash.), freshman Andrea Collins (Spangle, Wash.), senior Ashley Adams (Lebanon, Ore.), freshman Madison Lewis (Anchorage, Alaska), sophomore Melissa Peterson (Cascade, Ore.), and freshman Bobbie Clauson (Emmett, Idaho), all competed as individuals.

Corban is next in action on Saturday, September 22nd, when the Warriors travel north to Burnaby, British Columbia to take part in the Pinetree Invitational hosted by four-time defending NAIA champions Simon Fraser University beginning at 12:00 p.m.
