Six Warrior players named to All-Conference Team

SALEM, Ore. – Corban College had two players named to the Cascade Collegiate All-Conference 1st team, and four more were named to the All-Conference 2nd team. The Warrior squad was also tabbed as winner of the CCC Team Sportsmanship Award, as announced today by Sam Ghrist, CCC Sports Information Director.
Senior Sarah Officer (Steilacoom, Wash.) was named as a member of the all-conference 1st team for the second straight season following her team-leading 7 goals, 11 assists, and 25 points. This is the third straight season that the 5-foot-4 Steilacoom High School graduate was named to the all-conference team. Officer was named conference and NAIA Region I Player of the Week following a combined 3-goal, 1-assist performance against Albertson and Eastern Oregon, while being named Statesman Journal Athlete of the Week at the same time.
Sophomore Megan Waunch (Tumwater, Wash.) was named as a member of the All-Conference 1st team for the second straight season, as she co-ledthe Warriors in goals with 7, handed out 4 assists and recorded 18 points. Over the final three games, the 5-foot-4 Black Hills High School graduate tallied 4 goals and 1 assist, including a 2-goal, 1-assist performance in Corban’s 3-1 victory over Oregon Tech on October 21st. Waunch was named conference and regional Player of the Week following her performance during the final week of the regular season, while being named Statesman Journal Athlete of the Week at the same time.
Junior Lyndsey Hawk (Medford, Ore.) was named to the 2nd team for the second straight season, as she anchored the Warriors’ defense, while scoring 3 goals and handing out 3 assists for a total of 9 points.
Junior goalkeeper Kim Mendenhall (Windsor, Calif.) was named to the 2nd team this season, after gaining 1st team and honorable mention recognition in her first two seasons. The 5-foot-7 Rincon Valley Christian High School graduate recorded a team-high 65 saves, while allowing 17 goals, posted 4 shutouts, and had a Goals Against Average of 1.49. Against nationally-ranked opponents, Mendenhall had a record of 1-1-2, including a win over Biola (Calif.), a scoreless tie with Carroll (Mont.), and a scoreless tie against Simon Fraser (B.C.).
Senior Kari Swenson (Fallon, Nev.) was named to the 2nd team for the first time in her career, as she scored 5 goals and totaled 10 points. Swenson scored the Warriors’ only goal in Corban’s opening game of the conference tournament – a 1-1 tie with The Evergreen State College.
Sophomore Sarah Whaley (Gresham, Ore.) was named to the 2nd team for the first time in her career, as she scored 1 goal and handing out 4 assists for a total of 6 points.
